Jimmy Buffett Tribute with Mark Wood and the Parrot Head Band

Mark began listening to and playing Jimmy Buffett tunes in the early 1970’s. The stories that Jimmy told in his songs, along with the great melodies, were always very intriguing to Mark. Songs like Margaritaville, A Pirate looks at 40, Pencil Thin Mustache and Tampico Trauma became staples in his solo career.

In 1999, a friend in the corporate event planning business, needed a “Jimmy Style” band for an event. This was a chance for Mark to put together the perfect party band. A Cajun/Zydeco style rhythm section, reggae keyboardist, country guitarist, R&B sax man, Vik and Lacey the Parrot Head Singers and a steel drummer who actually studied with Coral Reefer Band member, Robert Greenidge. Based on availability, Mark can bring Robert Greenidge to your show as well! This unbelievable combination is what makes Mark Wood and the Parrot Head Band the next best thing to “Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band.”

Mark Wood and the Parrot Head Band have performed around the world for our US Military, in theaters, concerts, casinos, corporate events and private parties. They have also performed as the opening act for Jimmy Buffett in Irvine, CA at Verizon Amphitheater and Mark has performed with Mac MacAnally in Southern California at The Coach House. Mark Wood and the Parrot Head Band can perform in many different configurations. You can book Mark as a solo, duo, trio, quartet, etc. You see, the Jimmy Buffett style will work with any band size, anywhere, anytime! From Cabo San Lucas to the Shores of the Caribbean, from the Florida Keys to Malibu, CA, Mark Wood and the Parrot Head Band are the best!

Mark Wood and the Parrot Head Band will celebrate the life and music of Jimmy Buffett at Campus JAX on Sunday, January 21st at 6:00pm.

They will finish their set with an encore of Jimmy’s "Lovely Cruise", the perfect send off!

"On behalf of the band, I’d like to invite you all to come and see our Mark Wood and the Parrot Head Band Show and help us celebrate the amazing life and legacy of one of the consummate singer/songwriters of our lifetime! I have been playing Jimmy Buffett’s music since 1976 and the band has been playing together since 1999. We have opened for Jimmy at Verizon Amphitheater, played with Coral Reefer Band members and they have played with us. I can guarantee that you will have a great time. It’s a wonderful way to begin to come to grips with Jimmy's passing; all of us together, singing and reliving Jimmy’s stories. What I have come to realize is that even though Jimmy's not here with us in body, his spirit lives on in the legacy of his stories, his songs and in each and every one of us who have loved, lived and experienced them in our own personal way!  RIP Jimmy and thanks for simply being you!" - Mark Wood
