Craig Springer is currently Executive Vice President of Irvine Barclay Theatre. Jerry Mandel is Chairman and President of Irvine Barclay Theatre and Vice Chancellor Emeritus at UCI. He was previously President of the Segerstrom Center for the Arts. A long-time champion of jazz in Orange County, Jerry’s passion for playing familiar tunes from the Great American Songbook has made him a community favorite wherever and whenever he performs.
Join us for an exclusive night of jazz with The IRVINE BARCLAY THEATRE JAZZ BAND comprised of Saxmen JERRY MANDEL & CRAIG SPRINGER joined by the RON KOBAYASHI TRIO. Ron Kobayashi (piano), Baba Elefante (bass), and Steve Dixon (drums) have been performing together for more than 25 years. The Trio was voted Best Jazz Group in Orange County by readers of the OC Weekly and was nominated for Best Jazz Group in Orange County by the Orange County Music Awards.
Jazz sensation Tawanda Suessbrich-Joaquim brings the depth of expression you would expect from a seasoned veteran who's drawn from the deep well of life's turbulent, character building experiences way beyond her years. Inspired by the great classic performers like Billie, Ella and Sarah, and the great contemporaries Esperanza, Cècile and Jazzmeia, Tawanda has a very bright future ahead.
